Karen Cooper Complex

Bill says :
We refer to it as "Analog Music from a Lost World" — previously unreleased post-punk experimental rock from 1981, unlike anything else recorded before or after.

Jason Sigal, Managing Director at WFMU said:
"This is amazing stuff and we would be honored to feature it in wfmu's curated portal on the free music archive. I'm very sorry for our slow response, we have a lot of stuff to wade through to find gems like these."

Endless Endless Endless

James says :
This recording captures the energy of the band's recording process of gameboy, guitar, and go, two musicians performing on a single take. All 4 of the tracks on this cdr were improvised and recorded at a single session. The first 3 songs ("North", "South" and "West") are all sections of a single jam while the last song, "Things I Saw", revisits the thematic ideas of the first three songs as a hypnotic rhythmic cycle.

What Kimberly Dawn Records had to say about the release: "Endless Endless Endless rip through your fragile psyche to reveal a multifaceted world of pure color and tone. This east coast duo wields guitars, gameboy, and vocals to create their own unique drifting dream world of pure discovery. I'm delighted to be able to present this unique statement which is the perfect complement to their recent self released album, Black Talisman (see the glowing Aquarius write up for more testimonial proof). Perfect journey music.

Qa'a

Chi’en is an 80 minutes long psychedelic trip that feels like a single unity moving forward. In this second album almost all the musical threads of the band are deepened; It’s more hypnotic and repetitive, noisier and more dissonant, somewhat more abstract and at the same time more folk although there are less ambient/drone/free jazz parts than in Vesprada. It’s a record of extremes, from nude moments to walls of dissonance and harrowing noise with a psychedelic production that has tons of layers, sounds and instruments thrown in for good measure.

A Wake A Week

Dave says :
As a follow up to 2009's release on Spectraliquid, 'Little Black Cloud', this new A Wake A Week release, entitled Abandon, features three new tracks based around the conflicts and various guises of abandonment.
From the delicate isolation of 'The Very Idea' to the unfettered despair of 'Perigee', Abandon follows up from 'Little Black Cloud' by drawing together elements of field recordings, and various forms of instrumentation to form an intense and personal release.

Jacques de Villiers

Jacques says :
I am a musician and general sound manipulator out of Cape Town, South Africa. I recently finished work on an album (sleepsongs) that I have made available for free over the internet. The music is fairly experimental, though unconventionally gentle. The main aim is to make noise more accessible and the presentation of melody more experimental.

Sexplanation and Scheiße!

Jay says :
Sexplanation and Scheiße! is the project name. The album is untitled, but you can call it "dextromethorphantastic" if you want. The sounds were recorded about ten years ago by a duo in the days before they were to be known as Beatfag, and individually as Yobleart and snma. College dorm room drug mind music. Forget styles, this solid listen flies past anything you thought you knew.
My current project is the Darbolistic Rex label. We have lots going down there, come check it out.

Megabats

Some press for “In/Out”

"The album works well as a whole because it seamlessly flows around driving noise, psychedelic melodies and sweeping drone-scapes, never an easy task to combine… If this is figuring stuff out, I can't wait to hear what they come up with when it's all said and done. Highly recommended. " -Incomplete Tales of Several Journeys

"Essential psych-burner debut from the megabats crew. Hallucinatory sheets of shamanic drone wash over subliminal beats and howling synth-like waves of sound. If LSD is unavailable in your village, this will do the trick." -Sparkle Girl Kurt

Let’s face it. Megabats is on the best noise label in seattle. hands down. why? because debacle makes an effort of keeping all releases beautiful and well mastered and smelling of DIY-ness without getting adhesive stuck to your hands. and so we shouldn’t be surprised that sam and riley should make such a fun and listenable project, leading to easy smiles and feeling far out while eating candy. now that’s a treat." -Hollow Earth Radio
